Program to evaluate the effectiveness of handling wildlife violations

In order to assess the prevalence of wildlife violations and the efforts of the authorities in dealing with this violation, ENV has been conducting a program to investigate wildlife violations in some localities. After a period of two months, ENV proceeded to conduct a second survey of all establishments showing signs of wildlife violations recorded in the first survey to assess the effectiveness of the handling of violations by the local authorities. Afterwards, ENV sent a report to evaluate the effectiveness of local wildlife violations to the City People's Committee, comparing the effectiveness of the handling of violations between districts in a city and between large cities. together. Currently, ENV is expanding this campaign to two new cities, Vinh and Da Nang. To date, more than 5,000 businesses have been surveyed by ENV staff. 1.The prevalence of wildlife violations in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Ha and Hue


The graph shows the prevalence of wildlife trade violations in four major cities across the country. Hanoi has the highest level of signs of wildlife violations, with 21% of surveyed establishments showing signs of wildlife-related violations. Dong Ha and TP. Ho Chi Minh City ranked second and third with 18% and 16% respectively. Hue is recorded with the lowest number of signs of wildlife violation with 12% of survey sites showing signs of wildlife violation.

2. Assessing the effectiveness of handling violations of wildlife in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Ha and Hue


The effectiveness of handling violations of local authorities is assessed through the success rate of handling violations in the areas managed by these agencies. This level of success is reflected in the reduction in the number of signs of wildlife violations in businesses that have reported signs of violations. Hanoi is the most successful city in dealing with wildlife violations with a success rate of 51%, compared to 46% in the city. Ho Chi Minh City, 43% in Dong Ha and 40% in Hue.
