The People's Procuracy of Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa) has just completed a new indictment against Hoang Tuan Hai (46 years old, living in Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang City) for violating the regulations on animal protection on the list. endangered, precious and rare species, with the penalty frame of 2 - 7 years imprisonment.

 

 

This indictment replaces the charge on March 1, 2017, prosecuting Hoang Tuan Hai, with a fine of VND 50 - 500 million, non-custodial reform of up to 3 years or a prison term of between 6 months and 3 years.
In December 2014, the Police Department investigating environmental crimes Khanh Hoa Police discovered Hoang Tuan Hai hiding a lot of illegal sea turtles.

 

Through search, the investigating agency seized 4,383 corpses of sea turtles, including 4,327 individuals of tortoiseshell species, in the list of endangered species very large, extremely large and belonging to Annex I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

 

Previously, on November 19, 2014, the authorities also seized at the warehouse of Hai Hai 5,056kg of dried sea turtle individuals, which are in the list of very endangered species and very dependent. continent I CITES. During the investigation process, Hai Khai claimed to have bought many sea turtle corpses of fishermen as raw materials for processing into fine art products to sell for illegal profits.
