Information about wildlife violations in 2019

- The Department of Wildlife Protection (ENV) of ENV receives an average of 4-5 wildlife violations every day. From the information received, ENV staff will contact the relevant authorities to handle the violation and follow the process of handling the violations until the final result.


- In 2019, ENV recorded 1,777 new wildlife violations, including 146 transport cases, 979 trafficking and advertising cases and 610 illegal wildlife captures.

Accordingly, 51.8% of 1152 cases were discovered by people and directly notified to ENV via toll free 18001522 and email hotline@fpt.vn.

- In 2019, there are 321 alive wild animals confiscated by competent authorities after receiving the information violated or transferred voluntarily by the people.

- According to ENV database, the average imprisonment rate has increased gradually compared to previous years, from 0.98 years (2015), 1.21 years (2017) to 4.83 years (2019) thanks to the birth of the Code new criminal.

Request:

- Strengthen investigations and strictly deal with those who lead illegal wildlife trade. 

- The judicial authorities have imposed fines that create deterrence to violations

- Strictly control the commercial farming of wildlife, prevent illegal smuggling

- Attach the responsibility of local governments to control and stop the illegal wildlife consumption in the area
