64% of violations related to acts of advertising and illegal wildlife trade

According to ENV, the illegal advertisement and trade of wildlife and its products and parts are common violations, accounting for 64% of the total number of violations.

Not only selling and advertising in shops, restaurants, many people have taken advantage of the Internet to conduct their wildlife trade activities to get out of the control of the authorities. In 2018 alone, ENV recorded nearly 800 cases of violating wildlife laws on the Internet with more than 1,200 links showing signs of violation. In early September 2018, the Ba Thuoc police in Thanh Hoa confiscated a 12 liter bottle of wine soaked with two bear legs advertised on Facebook. Shortly thereafter a week, two subjects in Phu Tho were also arrested for advertising, trading a bottle of wine soaked with two limbs.

Also according to ENV, the illegal captive and storing of wildlife and its products and parts are still very popular, especially for monkeys, turtles, bears, tigers and marine turtles. or alcohol soaked in many other wildlife.

Rescuing wildlife with just a call to the free hotline 1800-1522

Today, there is a positive change in the community's awareness about wildlife protection in Vietnam. Not only do they actively seek information on the status of wildlife, but also to commit to not using wildlife and its products, people also play an increasingly important role in their efforts to fight wildlife.

In 2018, ENV 1800-1522 hotline recorded 819 cases of wildlife-related violations reported by people. 65.5% of these have been successfully dealt with, much higher than the 48% level in 2017. On average, ENV Wildlife Protection Department receives 3.3 new cases of violation per day. Hot line 1800-1522.

In addition, in 2018, many people voluntarily transferred their captive wildlife, contributing to a better life in the rescue centers for 67 wildlife.
